A Compound Ratio is obtained when two or more simple ratios are multiplied together term by term. It helps in comparing quantities when multiple ratios act successively.

Formula:

If two ratios are a : b and c : d, then their compound ratio is:

Compound Ratio = (a × c) : (b × d)

Example 1:

Find the compound ratio of 3 : 5 and 4 : 7.

Solution:
(3×4):(5×7) = 12 : 35

Example 2:

Find the compound ratio of 2 : 3 and 5 : 6.

Solution:
(2×5):(3×6) = 10 : 18 = 5 : 9
